Hello, I'm Andy Miller – a pianist, composer, conductor and piano teacher with a lifelong passion for music.

My musical journey has taken me through many different areas of the profession, from performing and composing to arts administration and education. I graduated from the University of Southampton with a Bachelor of Arts in Music in 2013 and spent eight years working in the admissions departments of both the Royal College of Music and the Royal Academy of Music in London, where I managed various aspects of the admissions process across a wide range of programmes. This gave me valuable insight into musical education at the highest level and the many different paths students can take in their musical development. In 2022 I went into teaching full time, and now teach piano lessons and music theory classes in South London and Surrey, both privately and with the Sutton Music Trust.

As a teacher, my teaching style is patient and personable, creating a supportive environment where students can build confidence and progress at their own pace. I work with both children and adults, from complete beginners just starting their musical journey, to more advanced players looking to refine their technique, musical understanding, or performance skills. Lessons primarily follow the ABRSM piano syllabus, but whatever your goals are lessons will be tailored to the individual needs of each student, whether that be preparing for grade exams, or simply learning and playing for their own pleasure.

I believe that knowledge, understanding and, above all, enjoyment are the foundations of successful learning. Whether your goal is to play for pleasure, work towards exams, develop confidence, or deepen your appreciation of music, lessons are designed to be engaging, rewarding and suited to your personal ambitions.

Music has been a constant part of my life for as long as I can remember, and one of the most rewarding aspects of teaching is helping others discover the same enjoyment and fulfilment through learning the piano.
